Demo 2010 March - 10.11.10 - Press conference

Students from all over the UK are marching in London today in a protest against the sharp rise in tuition fees, expected to be introduced in 2012.

An unprecedented amount of students have attended - there were only around 24,000 expected, yet in the past 48 hours, students have flocked to London to voice their opinions in high numbers.

63 students from the University of Bedfordshire have travelled by coach to the protest, which was organised by 2nd year Journalism student, Jamie Tayler. Having attended the press conference at 11.15am, he said: "People are fairly quiet at the moment, but various slogans are being shouted out, for example: You say cutbacks, we say fight back," and "We voted Lib Dems, look what they've done with us."

The march has started in many places over London, including Euston, where it is believed that around 4,000 students are currently protesting. Protesters are planning to march to the Institute of Education, and then through to the Houses of Parliament.
