Visits from two lots of emergency services in one day? Blimey...

Carrying on from the other day when I told you about the girl who collapsed in my lecture, we had another visit from the emergency services later on... from the fire brigade!

It was about 9.30pm; Lewis (that's my boyfriend, I can't remember if I mentioned his name in my last post) and I were enjoying eachother's company, all snuggled up together... then we got rudely interrupted by the fire alarm sounding! Eurgh, when you're half asleep it doesn't help either, it was so loud... haha. So anyway, off we all trundled down the stairs and we stood outside in the freezing cold for about half an hour... lovely! When the alarm initially went off, Ben (one of my flat-mates) was in his dressing gown, but he quickly got dressed again. I can't blame him really, I don't think I would have liked the embarrasment of being left out on the streets in my dressing gown. :P

So the fire brigade turned up after about 5 minutes and interrogated the top floor (where the smoke was coming from) and discovered that some silly person had obviously left their dinner in the microwave too long - consequently, it had caught fire. After about 20 minutes of smoke-tackling, they emerged with the remains of the microwave in their hands... a burnt-out, smelly black box. Considering we had to buy our own microwaves in here (the university didn't provide them for us) I hope it didn't cost them too much money! Somehow I think the culprit might be paying for the next one... :P

Fire accidents aside, Lewis and I had a lovely evening together, and my cooking was a success! Woohoooo :D I'm going back to Ashford this weekend too, which I'm really looking forward to! :D now I've just got to get through my 4 hours of lectures tomorrow... and my 8 and a half hour shift at work tonight >.< I work at Cineworld, by the way. I don't get the best pay in the world, but I get plenty of work to keep me afloat for the week, so I can't complain! The people who work here in the Luton branch are lovely too, which helps... even though I do miss my Cineworld Ashford friends a lot sometimes! :(

Right, I think it's time for me to go and make some lunch. Catch you guys later! :D

How exciting!

You may or may not have guessed, but I've never actually kept an online blog until now. Sure, I used to keep a little paper diary as a kid that I probably wrote something in once in a blue moon, but never something that other people were going to read... eeek.
Let me introduce myself. My name's Lauren - I'm a first-year Journalism student at the University of Bedfordshire. I simply love to write: expressing my thoughts and feelings through the wonders of the written word. You probably will have noticed my constant jibes about spelling and grammar whilst looking over my page. Put it simply - English language abusers are one of my pet hates. If you're going to refer to yourself as English, PLEASE learn how to use our language correctly! All those "innit blud"s and "there shoes are over their"s do NOT wash well with me. :P anyway, I digress...

Right now I'm sitting comfortably on my desk chair, typing away on my laptop and I'm full of anticipation... because my boyfriend from my hometown is coming all the way up to Luton to visit me! :D (my hometown is Ashford in Kent, by the way.) I absolutely love it when he comes to see me, we have so much fun together... and I'm planning on cooking a meal tonight for him! Let's hope I don't fail at cooking today like I did a few days ago, though :P Perhaps I should explain what happened? I decided to cook myself a pasta carbonara; I had fried small chunks of bacon up beforehand and my pasta was boiling away rather nicely. Stupidly, I poured the sauce into the frying pan too quickly and it all evaporated... leaving me with a lovely thick yellow and pink mess in the bottom of the pan. Yummy. :P needless to say, carbonara certainly wasn't on the agenda for dinner that night!

I had two lectures this morning, one of which transformed from being incredibly boring to being rather... scary. A girl two seats away from me randomly collapsed onto the floor and began to make VERY strange noises, then after about 10 seconds, sat up and said she didn't feel well. It was bad enough that it happened, but the fact she pretty much fell down right infront of my seat made the whole experience a lot creepier! The lecturers called an ambulance though, so I'm sure she'll be fine - she was being well looked-after when I left the room :D

Anyway, I think you've probably built up a picture of me inside your head now, whether it's a good or a bad one (hopefully good! :P)

Speak to you all again soon :D
